Big Trees, Big Mountains, Big Lakes

This summer I spent one weekend camping in the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. It's an extraordinary place. The big trees are unlike anything I have seen before. The mountains seemed familiar -- much like those in the eastern Sierras or in Yosemite. Yet, their scale was impressive; particularly at sunset.

Twin Lakes on the eastern side of Yosemite was entirely different than Sequoia and Kings Canyon. It's a reasonable accessible place near Mono Lake. Yet, it feels like you are in the middle of Sierra Nevada mountains. The lakes are beautiful with a backdrop of sno-capped mountains. Camping there is pretty good too. The Milky Way was supposed to set over the mountains on a particular summer weekend with very little moon light. And, I got a great shot of the night sky that time.
